This case was purchased for my daughter who will be a Junior in high school. She had an 8-lbs.+ violin case but it was very heavy. This Bam Black Panther case is about 5-lbs. but feels even lighter than this. This is a case even a professional would be proud to carry and use. It looks and performs great, with a tough rubberized cover that looks like it will not easily tear/rip and does not slide around or scratch the under layer shell.. Most of all, my daughter loves this case and the 8-pounder is now a backup case in the closet. To protect an expensive violin, this case should protect years of satisfied service/life.
