Gewa Air 1.7 Shaped Violin Case with Subway Handle - Blue

The Gewa "Air 1.7" are German-engineered cases that are extremely strong, and unbelievably light violin cases. They've been an extremely popular option among top musicians around the world! They feature energy-absorbing thermoplastic shells. The cases are produced by bonding the materials with heat. The foam between the inner and outer shells is injected under high pressure. This is a different technique from most other cases in the market, where the already finished material is bent into shape. This causes stress and different thickness in the material, especially around the critical edges. Because of Gewa's unique, high-quality, and German-engineered development techniques, the Gewa Air cases offer exceptional protection and insulation against cold and heat.

About Gewa

Originally founded in 1925, Gewa has built a reputation for itself as the creator of some of the most indestructible cases in the world. It is a trusted brand among top musicians such as Elisabeth Pitcairn, Midoi, Jan Vogler, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Mira Wang, and many more. Gewa cases have protected priceless instruments for decades, and each case is carefully designed Germany. Gewa holds several patents, such as the swivel bow holder, neck support, material, and many more. With a name like Gewa, you know your beloved instrument is well protected.

Light and sturdy

This is a great case that does everything I need it to with as little weight and bulk as possible. I have walked 60 NYC blocks with this case on my back; it did not chafe or cause shoulder/neck pain, and the backpack straps were surprisingly comfortable. I am also pleased with the interior suspension, the sturdy locks, and the secure bow spinners. The brown color is darker and richer than it appeared online, and I like the sleek exterior. My only small gripe is that the accessory pouch is difficult to unzip unless you remove it from the case each time, but doing so wears out the Velcro that fastens it inside. Overall, I am very pleased and if this case holds up as well as my other Gewa case, it will be well worth the price.

Great compact case!

This case is super light. The inside is snug but still fits a collapsible shoulder rest, cloth and strings. The accessory pocket is great for rosin and small items. Very well made. Shoulder straps are comfy and reinforced. Case top opens up flat. Packed well and quick shipping. I will definitely purchase from this company again.

Fantastic Case and Great Service

This case is great quality and has a good feel. It’s super lightweight and compact. It can hold everything I need including two bows, extra strings, cleaning cloths, a collapsible kun bravo shoulder rest, and the accessory pouch that contains a tuner, hygrometer, rosin, and 3 different mutes. There’s also enough gap underneath the violin’s neck to place a Boveda humidifier pack. It’s a bit of a squeeze to fit it all, but it does feel secure. I had an issue with the case when it arrived so I contacted customer service and they quickly helped resolve the issue. I highly recommend buying this case from Great Violin Cases.
