This case works well for my 7/8 size cello. The case is light weight but sturdy.

I have a 7/8th sized Montagnana cello, so it's short and stout. Repeatedly, everyone recommended this case as the best for fit and after a LOT of measuring it was the only case that would fit the instrument securely without having to add additional padding. I love the case. The only thing I've noticed - I think a man or a bulkier person might find the straps to be lacking in extra fabric. The Bam straps seem a bit roomier - I'm a petite woman, so it doesn't impact me, but be aware the straps could possibly need swapping. For me, this is a VERY minor comment - fit of the instrument securely is significantly more important and this case achieves this. I can also fit my 4/4 sized Strad cello in this case if I remove the padding. If you have several instruments and want one case - highly recommend. Also, going up stairs without whacking your calves.......priceless.

I've only had my new case for about two weeks, but so far I am loving it. I had an older Bam case before, and it was quite heavy, to the point where it was hurting my body to carry around. The Gewa case is only 8 pounds, which is less than half the weight of my old case. It is so light and easy to carry around. The backpack straps are comfortable and seem very sturdy as well.

The padding and whatnot in the interior is also movable to get the best fit possible for your instrument, which is nice. I also love that the strap holding the neck of the cello is not velcro, and neither are the bow holders. Velcro wears out over time and isn't very secure. This was an issue I encountered in my old case as well.

Some people have commented that with this case it can be difficult to get the latches to line up and close properly. I have found that if you close it and push the top part of the case together (around the top scroll area) while lifting the case, it helps get the seal to line up which makes closing the case easier. I saw a video of someone doing something similar with a different case and it worked well with this one.

Overall, I love the case and I'm confident that it's going to be protecting my cello for a long time.
