Solid, pretty case
There's a lot to love about these cases.
Pros:
Like other Bobelocks I've had, the hardware and seals are really nice, solid feeling. Everything fits together well and lines up easy, important on a shaped case. It just feels well put together.
Nice bow holders.
Case stands up when open with no violin in it.
Unlike similar cases I've seen from other brands, this barely smelled when I got it. Just needed a couple days to off-gas. The bag did have more of asmell and because I'm pretty sensitive I'm still airing it a few weeks later.
My Bonmusica shoulder rest fits fine in the lower section below the fiddle.
The blanket is really nice, again unlike many simila cases I've seen.
Cons:
With the shoulder rest in the accessory area there isn't a lot of room for stuff, which I expected, but I didn't expect for the accessory are to be just a tiny bit too narrow for a string packet. Like, a quarter inch....everybody carries strings, right? Why would they do that?
The backpack straps are very basic. If you planned to use them regularly I'd get something nicer.
This is a hazard of shaped cases but getting in and out of it is a bit fiddly. Again, that's expected. my main complaint here is that the fabric cover (awesome) has a little flap which must be carefully tucked in under the handle, every time, unless you want the wrong side of the velcro scraping your hand while you carry it. Small thing but annoying.
