Gewa Air 2.1 Violin Case

Excellent case. Exactly what I have been hoping for.

I bought this case for my daughter. It's a great case with enough room and good protection. She is very satisfied with the new case.

It took me a while to comparison shop cases that included my entire checklist of desired features but the Gewa Air 2.1 oblong violin case fit the bill and did not disappoint when I unboxed for inspection! I truly love everything about this case- the suspension security for my Italian violin, solid bow holders, not flimsy straps, accessory case is large and located at base of case, 2 (!)adjustable Velcro straps and ample room for shoulder rests, secure exterior closure latches that can’t be accidentally pressed open-even without using the combination lock. All this in a super sleek, this light weight shell! Very happy that case price included 2 neoprene straps with extra security rings and a slim zip music case that snaps on back. I especially appreciate that the bumpers on back of case allow it to rest solidly on a table, even with backpack configuration of straps and the case remains open at 90 degree angle- no more rocking backward or case cove slamming shut on violin or bow. I ordered it for one violin, but another sits inside it now. Easy for me to safely switch violins in and out. The Gewa Air case is so light and easy to open/close (no zippers) that it is perfect for the violin I play daily. Haven't set the combo lock yet, but it's an advanced feature--no tiny keys to bother with. I wanted the case to stand out from my dark brown/black cases so ordered RED, which is quite tasteful. No hygrometer, but not needed--it's now the daily case for my electric violin, which has no wood to warp. I can insert a small digital one inside and Boveda bags if needed when my wooden violin is inside.

I would give this case a 5 star rating, except that there is no hygrometer in the case. That's the only thing that is missing. My Bobelock case had one. But, I live in Southern Arizona where it can get up to 120 degrees from June through October. I am writing this review in June. Recently, I took my sensitive violin out in the heat briefly, and then quickly put it in the car. It survived the heat, and didn't get out of tune!, ! I checked my violin when I got home. The main thing is that it does protect your instrument from the heat and cold. I had a hard time figuring out how to use the combination locks, but I found a YouTube video demonstrating how to change the combination locks for a Gewa case, and open the violin case. At first when I got the case, I couldn't even figure out how to open the case. The instructions in English are translated from German, and not so easy to understand. But the YouTube video helped me figure it out. It does have adequate storage space.

I got the black glossy case, and immediately it reminded me of Darth Vadar's black glossy mask from Star Wars.

I now call it my Darth Vadar violin case! Ha!
