Tonareli Symphony Bass Bag
At the time of placing my order, Olive was the only color offered on the Great Violin Cases website. When it turned out that the bag was backordered to the factory, I was given the option of ordering the Charcoal color, which I accepted. In less time than I expected, about two weeks, the Charcoal bag was shipped.
The bag is exceptionally sturdy and well-padded and the variety of solid handles make moving the bass around the studio and in and out of vehicles very easy. The zippers are of unusually heavy nylon, feel as if they couldn't possibly ever break, and are backed up by a generous inside flap of strong material so they lie flat when zipped closed and do not contact the bass. It is easy to open the long zipper partially to gain access to the humidifier placed in the bass-side f hole for replenishment with distilled water.
I use the bag on a Shen hybrid SB150 with Gamba corners. The bag is almost perfectly sized in the area of the upper and lower bouts, and could probably accommodate another 1/2" wider bass in both of those areas: my bass is approx. 20" upper bout and 26-1/4" lower bout. The height of the bag is generous, with about 2" of extra height between the top of the bag and the top of the scroll when the bag is lifted. It takes a couple of minutes to put the bass in the bag and zip it in, but that includes removing the angled end pin and replacing it with a short straight pin for transport and standing upright.
